Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor in the world by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
