Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender in the world by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
He started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.

Texas Hold’em is all about gamblers and position. All rounded Holdem enthusiasts agree that seating in no cutoff Holdem is critically essential. Playing your hole cards in late spot may be much more beneficial than in starting poker position. The reason due to the fact that much more data is amassed right before acting.
As an example, I played in a $1-$2 no limit money round at a local spot. I came in with 2, 9 unsuited on the dealer button, so I could see a little fun. Flop came down A-A-4. An individual in starting position placed a $15 wager. 2 individuals drop out and it was now my turn. I really should have dropped out, but his play felt a tiny bit odd. I ID’d this contender as a weak-tight guy, and typically if he held the best hand he would only check, so I called.
The turn showed with a 7, making it A-A-4-7. My opposer made a further bet of $20. I debated a tiny bit, but took a chance to re-raise another $30thirty dollars over and above his twenty dollars. He folds and I won the cash.
Sitting at late position offers you an insight into where you are positioned by observing how other entrants carry oneself and bet. On the flip side, gamblers at early position may use their poker spot to check-raise the late positioned competitors and trap them later at the end. In Texas Holdem, each spots, late and early must be bet carefully.

Poker has become globally famous recently, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game shows. The games popularity, though, stretches back quite a bit further than its television ratings. Over the years several types on the earliest poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to 21 than traditional poker, in that the players bet against the dealer rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is no concealment or other types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up prior to the croupier broadcasting "No more wagers." At that moment, both you and the house and of course every one of the different players acquire 5 cards each. Once you have looked at your hand and the casino’s first card, you need to either make a call wager or surrender. The call bet’s value is on same level to your beginning bet, meaning that the risks will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your bet goes immediately to the house. After the wager comes the face off. If the house doesn’t have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, including a figure in accordance with the ante. If the dealer has a hand with ace/king or better, you win if your hand defeats the dealer’s hand. The dealer pays cash even with your wager and controlled expectations on your call wager. These expectations are:
- Even for a pair or high card
- two to one for two pairs
- 3-1 for three of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- 5-1 for a flush
- seven to one for a full house
- twenty to one for a four of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- one hundred to one for a royal flush

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the last game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While wagering on net poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
