Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the last game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While wagering on net poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
