Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse comments from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker players in the world.
He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
